‘Resident Evil’ Director Returning to Work on Film Sequel

Similar to Albert Wesker, Paul W.S. Anderson’s ‘Resident Evil’ cinematic series just won’t die.

China Central Television reports that Paul W.S. Anderson has unvealed that his next cinematic project would be the sixth episode of his ‘Resident Evil’ film series. At the Beijing International Film Festival, Anderson was in attendance to discuss how 3D technology is going to shape the future of the film industry (didn’t they say the same thing in the 1980s?). At this festival, Anderson announced that Chinese actress and pop singer Li Bingbing will be reappearing as Ada Wong to costar next to Anderson’s wife, Milla Jovovich, who stars as the film series’ ongoing protagonist, Alice.

To no surprise considering his vocalized support of 3D technology, Anderson announced that the sixth ‘Resident Evil’ will be filmed using 3D technology. China Central Television reported that the movie was titled, ‘Rising Resident Evil,’ which is likely to be a translation error since both Anderson and Jovovich have both referred to the upcoming film as ‘Resident Evil: Rising’ in multiple interviews. It’s unlikely Anderson will decide to ditch the clone stories, stop giving Alice the superpowers like pyrokinesis and telepathy and just keep the franchise horror-themed. But hey, we can dream, right?
