Dead Body On Indian Island Leads To Meth Lab Investigation

MDEA officials say the discovery a dead body on Indian Island has led to an investigation into a meth-making operation.

Penobscot Nation Police were called to a home on Indian Island early Saturday morning, where a 38-year-old woman was found deceased. Officials say her identity and further details related to her death will not be released, other than to say that there's no indication of foul play.

While police were inside the home, they encountered items that were believed to have been used to make methamphetamine and called the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency to assist. Agents confirmed the presence of a meth lab and brought in the MDEA's Lab Response Team to investigate. Lab Team members collected samples for analysis and turned hazardous materials over to the Department of Environmental Protection.

So far, no arrests have been made.

The investigation into the meth-making operation and the circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation by the Penobscot Nation Police and the MDEA.
