Bangor area high school dance DJ Dana Wilson is going to jail. He was convicted of Possessing Child Pornography in July.

Fox ABC Maine is reporting that Wilson is sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison with all but 9 months suspended. He is also sentenced to 4 years probation and that includes computer monitoring.

Wilson had denied the allegations at his trial, claiming that it could have been his adult son who downloaded the porn files. The son testified during the trial and denied that he had ever touched his father's computer.

It's been a drawn-out process getting to trial and sentencing. Wilson fired his original attorney before his sentencing and asked to change his plea from 'no contest' to 'not guilty.' There were delays getting his trial started because of a request to have a computer expert analyze his laptop computer.

Now, Wilson will remain free on $500 cash bail until his appeal is resolved. If it's overturned, he could get a new trial or the case could be thrown out. If it's not overturned, he will be given a date to report to Penobscot County Jail.

Then, once he was found guilty, sentencing was delayed after Wilson asked for a continuance because he says he's the only caretaker to ailing elderly parents in Florida. Today's sentencing comes more than two years after Wilson's original indictment.
