Criminal Charges Expected in Dog Attack Case
Criminal charges are pending in the case of a 7-year-old boy who was killed by a pit bull in Bangor a week ago.
WABI-TV says it's received a report from the town office confirming that charges are expected. 7-year-old Hunter Bragg and his father, 35-year-old Jason Bragg were at the Corinna home of Gary Merchant, Jr. when he was killed. Hunter was left outside with the dog, while the two men were elsewhere, when the dog attacked and killed him.
The pit bull belonged to Merchant's daughter and had only been in his possession for a few months. It had attacked the daughter's other dog several times in the past. The dog that killed Hunter was euthanized, at Merchant's request.
