By Fall, the Brewer Riverwalk will stretch nearly a mile along the Penobscot River.

Crews have broke ground on the expansion of the Brewer Riverwalk. The new portion of the trail will stretch from the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge, to Veteran’s Park near the Penobscot Bridge. It's expected to be completed by October.

A federal grant is footing most of the bill on the $1.4 million project.

According to the BDN, the long term plan is to further the paved trail south, from Hardy Street, to near the 395 ramps off South Main Street.
