‘The Cabin in the Woods’ Director Drew Goddard Working on a Mysterious New Project

Things are finally looking up for Drew Goddard. After a long period of lining up projects only to see them topple down, it looks like he’s stepping behind the camera again for what’ll be his second feature film. The Cabin in the Woods director just sold a spec script to Fox, entitled Bad Times at the El Royale. And so far, that’s all we know about it.

Can You Spot Tilda Swinton in this Photo of Tilda Swinton on the Set of ‘Suspiria’?

Tilda Swinton is known for transforming herself for her roles. She aged herself a few decades for her part in The Grand Budapest Hotel, she went bald for Doctor Strange, and perhaps her weirdest look was the false-toothed Margaret Thatcher-type she played in 2014’s Snowpiercer. Well, weirdest until now, that is. Recent set photos from the Suspiria remake seem to show an older gentleman exiting his trailer — except, that’s no man, that’s Tilda Swinton.

Scarlett Johansson Sorta Gets That ‘Ghost in the Shell’ Whitewashing Thing, But Not Really

Two movies steeped in the very same kind of controversy are about to hit theaters: The Great Wall, whose casting of Matt Damon in the lead role of a movie ostensibly about a fantastical spin on Chinese history is laughable at best, and Ghost in the Shell, which cast Scarlett Johanssen in a role that is, for all intents and purposes, a Japanese woman. Well, robot-woman. Both sets of actors from both films have tried their best to find ways around this whitewashing issue, with many involved in The Great Wall calling it a “cross-cultural” story of “an outsider.” Johanssen recently addressed accusations of whitewashing leveled at her own movie, and unfortunately she doesn’t really get it.

Surprise, Surprise, ‘La La Land’ Leads 2017 BAFTA Nominations Followed By ‘Arrival’ and ‘Nocturnal Animals’

Like it, love it or hate it, La La Land is continuing its major sweep of awards season, unsurprisingly. After winning a record-breaking seven Golden Globes on Sunday night, the Damien Chazelle romance musical has come out on top of the 2017 British Academy of Film and Television Awards with 11 nominations. The surprising bits of the BAFTA announcement though, were the few very nominations given to its main competitors.

You Will Not Believe the Movies the Golden Globes Have Nominated for Best Picture

The Golden Globes are a lot of fun. The stars show up to the Beverly Hilton in their most beautiful clothes. The host makes some jokes, the alcohol flows, and invariably, by the end of the night, someone does something a little foolish. What’s not to love? It’s all great.

Our Almost Definitely Wrong 2017 Golden Globes Predictions

Don’t let anyone tell you they know who is going to win the Golden Globes. Who knows what the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a group of about 90 international journalists from all over the world, are going to do? (Seriously; their official site says they have “about 90 members.”) Predicting what any awards voting body is going to do is tricky to begin with; picking what a small and largely anonymous voting body with notoriously idiosyncratic taste is going to do basically impossible. Trying to pick the 2017 Golden Globe winners is like trying to predict the weather six months from now or who will win the Super Bowl in 2026. Unless you’ve got telepathic powers or the Grays Sports Almanac of Movie and Television Awards, you’re screwed.

Watch the First Gorgeous, Creepy ‘Alien: Covenant’ Red Band Trailer

Had enough of those never-ending stills yet? Good news — the Alien: Covenant trailer is here, and it’s equal parts stunning and downright horrifying. Watch as a sinister particle drifts into an android’s ear, cringe as a man leans over a slowly hatching alien egg, marvel at the sweeping, beautiful landscapes of a planet we all know is full of creatures that want to kill us! Oh, and I am never, ever taking a shower again.

Rooney Mara, Jonah Hill in Talks for Joaquin Phoenix and Gus Van Sant’s Film

A few weeks ago, Joaquin Phoenix and director Gus Van Sant announced that they were reuniting for a movie once again, this time a biopic about quadriplegic cartoonist John Callahan. It looks like the movie is picking up, because now both Rooney Mara and Jonah Hill are in talks to co-star in the movie, an adaptation of Callahan’s autobiography Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot.
