New Movies: ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ and ‘A Dark Truth’
After a jam-packed December, this weekend is considerably lighter in terms of new releases: a classic horror franchise's latest installment, and a South American-set tale of industrial espionage.

It's a busy time at the movies these days. Studios are trying to get all their releases in before the December 31 Oscar deadline, and they're also vying for your precious holiday dollar. This week's offerings include a few that came out on Christmas—Quentin Tarantino's latest, an adaptation of a much loved musical, a family comedy, and a documentary about the justice system—and the first collaboration between Matt Damon and Gus Van Sant since 'Good Will Hunting,' due out Friday.
This weekend sees a variety of new releases, from star-studded Hollywood action and big-name comedy, to smaller, art-house fare and an animated classic now in 3-D. And that’s not even including next Tuesday’s Christmas openings, which, all combined, makes for a very busy—and very fun—holiday moviegoing experience.
Taylor Swift graces the cover of the December issue of WebMD. We know, we were like, "There's a WebMD magazine?," too. But don't question it; just go with it. Despite the fact that it's a magazine about health issues, T. Swizzle, her bangs and her polished ponytail are featured. She's flushed and pretty, with a pop of color on her pink-tinted lips.
San Francisco withstood a miraculous comeback by New England and clinched a playoff berth, and Dallas, Washington and the N.Y. Giants are tied for the NFC East lead. Here's a recap of Sunday's games:
During a Sunday news conference, police said the gunman in Friday's school shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. possessed much more ammunition in addition to the rounds he used to kill 20 children, seven adults and himself. Authorities also responded to a phoned-in threat at a church near the scene of the tragedy which has left the small New England town shaken and in a state of solemn mourning.
We already knew that Haylor, aka Taylor Swift and One Direction's Harry Styles, were getting serious, spending her 23rd birthday together in his native England and jetting around NYC holding hands for several days earlier this month. Will they continue the romance through the holiday season and spend Christmas together?
Authorities have released the names of the victims of Friday's mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, in which Adam Lanza, 20, reportedly killed 27 people, as well as himself. Lanza's rampage began when he shot and killed his mother, Nancy, at her home before he drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School and killed six adults and 20 children before taking his own life.
How do you explain the unexplainable to children? Today, parents across the country, including myself, were faced with this -- fumbling over words while explaining the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown - located only 20 miles away from my own daughter's elementary school.
NOTE: This post will be continually updated as new information comes in. Video and photos are below. All times Eastern.
UPDATE 6:30 p.m.: Originally it was thought that Adam Lanza, the gunman, shot his mother at the Sandy Hook Elementary school, where she was a teacher's aide. ABC has learned that, in fact, Nancy Lanza was killed at her home (by her son) prior to the massacre. He then drove to the school, where he killed 20 children and six adults, before killing himself.
