48 year old Oscar winning actor Russell Crowe ended up needing rescue Saturday night after he and a friend managed to get lost while kayaking on Long Island sound. The pair headed out off Cold Spring Harbor mid-afternoon but were unable to make their way back by darkness, and were forced to land about 11 miles from where they started. Around 10 pm, a Coast Guard patrol heard Crowe's cries for help. Crowe and his friend paddled out to the Coast Guard boat, where they were taken aboard and given a ride back to their starting point. According to the Associated Press, the Coast Guard crew did not recognize Crowe.
