There's been a recent up tick in home burglaries and the most recent case had police chasing down and capturing a suspect.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says a Brewer man faces multiple charges after he failed to stop for police and took off on foot after crashing his car in a chase.

Charles Fling, 33, of Brewer was seen by a homeowner In Holden after he allegedly stole items from the residence on the Mann Hill Road yesterday afternoon.

When police caught up to Fling he failed to stop and lead police on a chase that at times exceeded 90 mph according to McCausland.

Fling lost control of the car on the Upper Dedham Road and was taken into custody after a chase through the woods, by State Police Trooper Tucker Bonnevie.

As of Tuesday morning, Fling remained at Eastern Maine Medical Center. He's been charged by Holden police with eluding an officer. It's expected he will face more charges once he's released from the hospital to the Penobscot County Jail.

State Police were assisted by Brewer Police and the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department.
