Is there anything beer can’t do?! It tastes great and solves crime!

53 year old Charles Henry Johnson pleaded guilty Tuesday (Jan.8) to aggravated criminal mischief, burglary, theft and trafficking in prison contraband.

Back in December of 2009, Johnson’s ex-wife came home to find her home in Union on fire. The woman said she had put some wood in the stove, locked up the house and left. When she returned, the house was on fire.

No exact cause of the fire was determined but investigators said it had a human element to it and it started in the wood box.

Here’s where good ol’ Budweiser saved the day. Outside of the charred house was a finished Bud can. Investigators took DNA from the can and matched it with Johnson’s DNA. The cans manufacturing date helped the cops determine it was not an old can. Although it dosn’t prove that Johnson started the fire, he was definitely hanging around the property. He shouldn’t have been in the first place.

Moral of the story:

  1. If your going to commit a crime, don’t litter
  2. Budweiser is awesome
  3. Beer is awesome
