Brie Larson won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her role in Room at the 2016 Golden Globes.

In Lenny Abrahamson's Room Larson plays Ma, a young woman held captive in a small shed with her five-year-old son Jack (Jacob Tremblay). Larson trumped Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara for Carol, Saoirse Ronan for Brooklyn and Alicia Vikander for The Danish Girl. This is her first Golden Globe.

In her acceptance speech Larson thanked author of the novel and screenplay, Emma Donoghue, and her young co-star, Tremblay.

Last year, Julianne Moore won the Best Actress Drama Globe for Still Alice.
