Brewer High’s First Day of School Delayed
The ongoing construction at Brewer High School has caused a delay in the first day of school. Freshman Orientation, however, will be held as scheduled.
Massive renovations have been underway at BHS since last year. Modifications include a new lecture hall, all-new cafeteria, and a new office. Students and visitors will all enter the school through a central entrance consisting of double doors, as an added level of security.
Superintendent of schools Jay McIntire says there will also be a new Brewer High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Ten athletes are set to be admitted into the Hall of Fame this fall.
McIntire told me a couple of weeks ago that construction was somewhat behind schedule and now, it’s interfered with the opening of classes. The first day of school at BHS will now be September 2nd, rather than the originally scheduled August 28th. Freshman Orientation, however, will still be held on Wednesday, August 27th.
Brewer Community School will open as scheduled on August 28th. For more information, log onto the Brewer High School website.
