Bangor Police say a body was pulled from the Penobscot River in Bangor on Saturday.

It was around 2:30 Saturday afternoon when Bangor officers and members of the Bangor Fire Department were called to the waterfront near the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge. A boater had reported finding a body in the Penobscot River.

The body was safely recovered and will be transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office for positive identification. Those results are expected early next week. The case is being handled, currently, by the Criminal Investigation Division and the investigation is ongoing.

We'll update this story when more details become available.
