Police say the body of missing Portland meteorologist Tom 'TJ' Johnston has been found in Auburn.

According to his employer, WCSH-TV, Johnston took his own life. Police said in a statement late Friday night that foul play has been ruled out, and that the 46-year-old had died of an apparent suicide. More information may be released later today, after an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner's Office.

Johnston had worked for WCSH for three years. Just before his death, he had been in Newry, hosting an event at the Sunday River Ski Resort. He was out with friends and family on Saturday and told them he was headed home the next day. When he failed to show up by early Monday morning, his girlfriend reported him missing. Station personnel wrote a beautiful farewell to Tom, detailing how much he loved Maine and working as a meteorologist.
