What prompted this rather obvious reminder? Someone actually drove their car down a snowmobile trail and got stuck. How far they got down the trail is rather terrifying.

Imagine cruising down a trail on your snowmobile and suddenly coming face to face with a car. Baxter State Park officials are glad this wasn't the case in this scenario. In this case the driver actually managed to drive eight miles on a snowmobile trail before getting stuck. This is obviously very dangerous, and illegal.

On Facebook yesterday the park shared this photo:

The park reminds visitors in winter 'access toward the Park on Route 157 ends at Millinocket Lake. Park visitors can use the privately owned 'Golden Road' to access the Park from Abol Bridge.'
