According to by Fodor’s Travel, The American Folk Festival, is one of America's 15 Best Small-Town Festivals!

The American Folk Festival will once again take place on Bangor's Waterfront August 28th through the 30th.

Earlier this month, Fodor’s, the largest publisher of English language travel and tourism information, announced it's "15 Best Small-Town Festivals" list, and had this to say about the American Folk Festival:  "The three-day festival incorporates music and dance performances from a variety of different regions, cultures, and heritages. Along with craft demonstrations, a children’s area, food vendors, and a marketplace with hand-made creations, the festival also has workshops, where artists that share a similar instrument or tradition take the stage together to perform and discuss their music."

In a press release today, American Folk Festival Executive Director Heather McCarthy said,  “We are extremely pleased to be included in Fodor’s list of 15 best small-town festivals. The American Folk Festival strives to create a multicultural experience of music, dance, art and storytelling that reaches across all age groups. Recognition from a publication as well-respected as Fodor’s not only reinforces what we are aiming to accomplish, but it also helps to tell the story of this festival and this region to travelers from across the nation and the globe.”

The American Folk Festival joins others like the Barbecue Festival in Lexington, North Carolina, Tulip Time in Holland, Michigan, and the Newport Winter Festival in Newport, Rhode Island.

“The American Folk Festival continues to bring world class entertainers to Bangor’s historic waterfront, and we are just as excited as ever about the acts that we have already lined up for 2015,” said McCarthy. “We say it every year, but we mean it every year – this year’s lineup is one that you will not want to miss.”
