The Maine Science Festival, like just about everything else this year, was canceled this spring due to the novel coronavirus.

Nevertheless, the Festival went forward with a their student film contest for this year's Science Festival.  Two categories of the contest included the middle school film contest which requires students to create a movie trailer for a faux science film while the high school category required the creation of a short film that included science.

The festival gave cash prizes to 1st ($500), 2nd ($300) and 3rd ($100) place for each category.  Maine Science Festival set up a  playlist of all the winning films on the MSF YouTube channel.

Here are all of the winners from this year's Maine Science Festival Video Awards:

High School

  • 2nd Place:  Bryce and Tyler from Bangor High School, presenting The Clone

Middle School

  • 2nd Place: Olivia, Lolie, Meadow, and Perley from Tremont Consolidated School, presenting Save The Earth Y’all
