The Hands of Hope thrift store on Hogan Road in Bangor will close its doors in the coming weeks.

Hands of Hope Director Kathy Harvey on Thursday said business has dropped "drastically" due to the closure of Kmart.

A Thursday Facebook post said the thrift store will shutter in three to six weeks.

"We want to thank the community for 10 great years," the post said.

Harvey said the Airport Mall furniture store she owns will remain open.

A local children's program she's associated with will continue as well. Harvey said the program benefits an estimated 2,000 children throughout Penobscot County each year at Christmastime.
