The mother of a man who was shot to death in Bangor on Easter says he was in town visiting his son.

WLBZ-TV spoke with Terrance Durel Sr.'s mother, Theresa Reed, via the internet from her home in Louisiana. She said Durel's 12-year-old daughter has been staying with her while the girl's father traveled to Maine. She said Terrance was visiting Maine to see his son who lives in Bangor with Durel's ex-wife.

Reed told WLBZ that Durel had gone to his ex's home to talk about their son. The woman's boyfriend was also at the residence. She says the discussion got heated, a fight broke out, and three shots were fired. Two of those shots hit Durel, sending him to the hospital where he later died.

These are the comments made by Durel's mother about her understanding of the situation, and are not based on any information from law enforcement. Bangor Police have not commented on the events leading up to the shooting, but a reward is offered for information that leads to the arrest of the man believed to have been involved. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Antoinne Bethea, also known as 'Prince,' is urged to call Bangor Police at 947-7384.
