Bangor Recovers Over 400 Tons of Trash in the First Year of Zero-Sort Recycling
How much trash did Bangor recycle in one year? Hint: A LOT!
The City of Bangor took to social media to congratulate Bangor residents for their efforts in recycling. It was the first year of Zero-Sort recycling in Bangor. Here's the breakdown according to the City of Bangor's Facebook page:
- 690 tons of Zero-Sort material was collected curbside
- 372 tons was dropped off at the recycling facility on Maine Avenue
- 412 tons of trash didn't have to be hauled to Penobscot Energy Recovery Company
- At a net PERC tipping fee of approximately $68 per ton, the city saved over $28,000
