With the arrival of summer, Bangor pools are open for the season.

City officials have set Monday, June 24, as the opening day of Hayford Park's Beth Pancoe Municipal Aquatic Center and the East Side's Dakin Pool.

Beth Pancoe Municipal Aquatic Center Pool Hours Monday-Friday:

  • Adult Lap Swim: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Afternoon Swim: 1:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
  • Evening Swim: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Beth Pancoe Municipal Aquatic Center Pool Fees:

  • Afternoon Swim: Resident Child: $2.00. Non-Resident Child: $3.00.
  • Afternoon Swim: Resident Adult: $3.00. Non Resident Adult: $5.00.
  • Evening Swim: Resident Child: $1.00 Non-Resident Child: $2.00
  • Evening Swim: Resident Adult: $2.00 Non-Resident Adult: $3.00

Dakin Pool Hours Monday-Friday:

  • 1:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Dakin Pool Fees:

  • Child: $.50
  • Adult: $1.00 

The Pancoe pool, completed in 2004 with the help of $1.4 million donation from author Stephen King and his wife Tabitha, is named in honor Beth Pancoe, a Bangor High School diver whose family lived next to the Kings on West Broadway. She died in 1999 after a battle with leukemia.
