The Bangor Police Department building will be dedicated in honor of former department Chief, Don Winslow.

The Bangor City Council voted unanimously on the proposal. A plaque will placed in remembrance of Chief Winslow's contributions to the department. Winslow’s wife, Dora brought the dedication proposal to the city.

Chief Winslow's support played a big roll in building the $8 million police station that opened in 2006.

In 2007 Chief Winslow retired. In 2010 he was diagnosed with cancer, but successfully fought the disease. It would return in 2014 as he was preparing to run for Penobscot County Sheriff. He died on July, 10 at age 57.

The Winslow family will work with the city on the wording of the plaque.
