Bangor Police have released the identity of a man arrested last night in connection with a stabbing. Officers were called to the neighborhood known as Old Capehart just after 10 o'clock last night and found a woman seriously injured with stab wounds.

Bangor Police Sergeant Tim Cotton says the attack was the result of a domestic dispute at an apartment house on Acadia Place. Responding officers found a 23-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds in her lower back. The initial investigation determined that 40-year-old Terence Lawhorn of Bangor was responsible for the injuries.The victim and Lawhorn have been in a relationship.

The suspect fled the area on foot before the officers arrived but police found him, several minutes later, running in the area of the Downeast School. Lawhorn was taken into custody by Bangor Police and charged with Aggravated Assault and Violation of Bail Conditions. He's currently being held in the Penobscot County Jail. The victim is being treated at a local hospital.

Cotton says the investigation is continuing.
