Bangor Police are investigating the discovery of evidence of the production of methamphetamine in an outside trash receptacle at McDonald’s on Broadway Thursday morning.

It appears that a person or persons discarded the items in the trash sometime in the last 24 hours, according to a news release from the Bangor Police Department.

On Thursday morning, members of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection were at the scene along with personnel from the Bangor Police Department and Bangor Fire Department.

People and motorists on Broadway near that location can expect some delays due to the cleanup, said police, adding that avoiding the area is the best way to avoid delays as you go about your business.

We'll have more details as they become available.
