The Bangor Police Department was renamed this week, in honor of former Chief Don Winslow.

A dedication ceremony was held Wednesday afternoon, during which Dora Winslow spoke of how her husband always treated others the way he would want to be treated. A plaque on the building expresses that sentiment, as well.

Chief Winslow served the Bangor Police Department from 1979 to 2007. He was appointed Chief of Police in 1998 and served in that role until his retirement. Prior to his work with the Bangor PD, he served with the Old Town Fire Department.

Don Winslow died of cancer in July of 2014.
