Bangor police are on the lookout for the person who stole this vehicle from the Holiday Inn on the Odlin Road in Bangor early this morning.

Sgt. Cathy Rumsey says while the responding officer was heading west bound on I-395 he observed that there was a traffic crash on I-395 eastbound near the Farm Rd exit.

Other officers responded to that accident and found the stolen car wrecked and abandoned.

Sgt. Rumsey says witnesses report the stolen vehicle was traveling at very high rates of speed when it struck another vehicle near the Farm Rd exit, causing both vehicles to crash.

The suspect exited the stolen vehicle, flagged down a passing car, and jumped into their passenger seat.  That car was described as a dark colored (possibly grey) sedan.  The vehicle then exited I-395 at the Farm Rd and direction of travel from there is unknown.

The suspect is described as a white male, with a tall thin build, wearing a red or “orange-ish” puffy jacket.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck was transported to a local hospital by the Bangor Fire Department with injuries.  The stolen vehicle was damaged extensively.

The Bangor Police Department would obviously like to speak to the driver that picked the suspect up after the accident.  If you were that driver, or know who they are, please call the Bangor Police Department.

If you know who the suspect may be and would like to remain anonymous you can call their tip line at 947-7384 ext 6
