Two men are facing charges for allegedly burglarizing cars in Bangor.

Sergeant Tim Cotton says Bangor Police Officers were called to the area of Fifteenth Street at around 4:00 Friday morning to a report of two males trying to get into parked vehicles. Officers Shane Smith and Jordan Perry parked their vehicles and approached the area on foot. They watched two men rummaging through several parked vehicles before announcing themselves. When they did, the two suspects attempted to run.

Taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit were 24-year-old Jonathan Singleton and 31-year-old Harold Parsons. They were both charged with Burglary to a Motor Vehicle, Theft by Unauthorized Taking, and Refusal to Submit to Arrest and Detention. The men were taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where Parsons was also charged with Violation of Conditions of Release.

Cotton reminds residents to remain alert for any suspicious behavior in their neighborhoods, and report anything they see that seems unusual. To discourage vehicle burglary, it's important to remove valuables and keep the doors locked at all times, even in their own driveway.
