A Bangor man is facing charges after police say he caused a brief standoff early Monday morning.

The Bangor Daily News reports 58-year-old Gerard Godin is charged with terrorizing and creating a police standoff.

Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton said officers responded to a noise complaint at an apartment on Spring Street around 2:30 a.m.

When no one answered the door, officers contacted Godin by phone and the suspect mentioned he had a gun, Cotton said.

When Godin came out of the apartment a short time later, no guns were found on him or inside the apartment.

This is not Godin's first run-in with police in Bangor, according to the BDN. He was involved in an alcohol-related incident in October 2012 and was arrested for domestic violence on Christmas Eve 2010.
