Bangor, DOT Looking For Your Help To Identify Dangerous Pedestrian Roadways

Recently there has been a spike in the Bangor area in pedestrians being struck by vehicles. So before the kids head back to school the Maine DOT, the city of Bangor and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine are looking for your input at two public forums.

The first meeting will be on Wednesday Aug. 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the James F. Doughty School on 5th Street. That meeting is for communities west of the Kendsukeag Stream.

What they are hoping to hear from the public is about dangerous locations in the area and dangerous habits you have seen from pedestrians and drivers.

The upshot from both the DOT and BCM is that safety is a two way street requiring participation from both drivers, pedestrians and bikers alike.

The next meeting will be on Aug.16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the William S. Cohen School on Garland Street in Bangor. That meeting is for communities east of the Kendsukeag Stream.
