Bangor Airport Evacuated After Electrical Short

Bangor International Airport was evacuated Friday due to an electrical short, airport officials said.

Alarms started going off at the airport at approximately 12:05 p.m., the airport said in a news release Friday.

The release said airport personnel carried out emergency procedures to evacuate both terminals, and all passengers and employees were evacuated without incident.

Emergency services arrived on scene and cleared the building after it was determined that an electrical short was to blame for the alarms being triggered.

Officials said in the release that everything at the airport had returned to normal.

“The airport is currently open with flights departing and arriving," Airport Director Tony Caruso said. "Passengers are being screened or re-screened as the case may be and getting to their flights."

Passengers and employees were allowed back in the building at approximately 12:27 p.m.
