Support for the project is growing.

The 31-foot-tall Paul Bunyan statue may soon have a companion. A project to build a statue of Babe the Blue Ox is gaining momentum. Bangor's Art in Public Places panel passed the proposal unanimously. Next it faces the City Council’s Business and Economic Development Committee, it then could move on to the City Council in September or October.

I'm sure you're wondering, will the Babe have his 'boys?' The answer is no. An earlier mock-up of the statue included the genitalia. You can see the new 3-D replica, here.

Paul Bunyan has been standing by Main street since 1959. A Babe statue was apart of the original plan.

The BDN says if everything goes smoothly, Babe the Blue Ox could be unveiled July 4, 2016.
