Pennywise Floats Awkwardly Inside a Sewer Pipe in a New ‘It’ Remake Image
’Tis the season for images of movies that none of us will be able to see until months from now! The latest was a kind of Christmas present from the folks over at the remake of Stephen King’s It, but unfortunately it’s more awkward than scary. The image shows Pennywise — who else? — lurking inside a larger-than-life sewer pipe, seemingly floating somehow above the ground.
Watch the First Gorgeous, Creepy ‘Alien: Covenant’ Red Band Trailer
Had enough of those never-ending stills yet? Good news — the Alien: Covenant trailer is here, and it’s equal parts stunning and downright horrifying. Watch as a sinister particle drifts into an android’s ear, cringe as a man leans over a slowly hatching alien egg, marvel at the sweeping, beautiful landscapes of a planet we all know is full of creatures that want to kill us! Oh, and I am never, ever taking a shower again.
‘Patriots Day’ Under Fire Due to Claims of Unfair Portrayal of Bomber’s Widow
When it comes to making “true story” movies, there’s always a certain sense of pressure on everyone involved to be as true to the real events as the movie allows. That’s what Mark Wahlberg and co. were most concerned with when it came to making Patriots Day, but it appears their attempt to “do it right” still left some people in the dust. Now, Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s widow Katherine Russell says that the movie’s portrayal of her is unjust and “unfair.”

‘Passengers’ Writer and Director Address the Controversial Premise, So It’s All Good Now (It’s Not)
By now, you’ve probably heard about the not-quite-twist at the center of this month’s sci-fi romance Passengers. It’s gotten a lot of attention, and people aren’t happy. If you’ve only seen the trailers, you’ve seen the “Titanic in space” aspects of the film, but there’s actually a lot more to it, and not in a good way. Director Morten Tyldum and writer Jon Spaihts have finally addressed the reason why they decided to keep that one controversial plot point in the film, but it might be too little too late. If you haven’t heard anything about this, or if you’d rather go into the movie knowing as little as possible, it’d be a good idea to turn back now, because there are SPOILERS ahead.
Rooney Mara, Jonah Hill in Talks for Joaquin Phoenix and Gus Van Sant’s Film
A few weeks ago, Joaquin Phoenix and director Gus Van Sant announced that they were reuniting for a movie once again, this time a biopic about quadriplegic cartoonist John Callahan. It looks like the movie is picking up, because now both Rooney Mara and Jonah Hill are in talks to co-star in the movie, an adaptation of Callahan’s autobiography Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot.
The International ‘Ghost in the Shell’ Trailer Features the Major Bringing the Pain
Paramount has rolled out a new international trailer for Scarlett Johansson’s live-action Ghost in the Shell, which is faster-paced and shorter than the first one we got early last month. There isn’t a whole lot of new footage in this aside from a few second-long shots, but we see the Major and her partner Batou in action again, and less of those scary-looking spider leg people.
Natalie Portman’s Jackie O Accent Is Fantastic in New ‘Jackie’ Clip
John F. Kennedy is probably the most well-documented president in history, with tons of documentaries and conspiracy theory History Channel specials and books and what have you dedicated to the life and legacy of one of this country’s most tragically beloved presidents. Jackie Kennedy Onassis is almost as well-known, the nation’s fascination with her prompting the First Lady to become a followable source of fashion and politics. Natalie Portman’s Jackie follows the First Lady in the first few days after JFK’s shocking assassination. In a new clip, she speaks to a journalist and has an unexpected response to her own grief.
‘Donnie Darko’ Is Heading Back to Theaters With a New 4K Restoration
Donnie Darko, perhaps the cult-iest of cult movies, made barely a ripple when it premiered in theaters in 2001, but since then has become a cult classic phenomenon, an essential film for disenfranchised teens and time travel aficionados alike. And, like, many cult classics these days, it’s getting a theatrical re-release, this time in glorious 4K resolution.
‘The Edge of Seventeen’ Red-Band Trailer Gives Us the High-School Movie We Deserve
The “high school experience,” such as it is, is a popular environment for adult filmmakers to try and make sense of the world of the youths of today. There’s as much if not more drama, intrigue, and romance than a Shakespeare play, and yet very few are able to do the setting the justice it deserves. Enter Hailee Steinfeld’s The Edge of Seventeen, which just released a new Red-Band trailer and looks like the perfect blend of honest, funny, and weird.
