The big game is on the way! Americans will woof down 1.23 billion wings during the game. Unfortunately there will be a wing shortage! Oh, the humanity!!!!!

The National Chicken Council (yes there's such a thing) says consumption will be down 1% this year. That's 12.3 million wings. It's not because Americans are eating less, it's because there will be less wings to eat.

Chicken producers saw record high prices on corn and feed, prompting lower production of the tasty morsels. This summers drought caused lower production of corn. In addition, the federal government mandated that 40% of the corn that grew be used to produce ethanol for gasoline.

Superbowl Sunday is the second biggest eating day of the year for Americans.
