Maine State Police say an accident between a car and a piece of paving equipment shut down the northbound lanes of the interstate this morning in Gray.

Police posted on Facebook at around 10:00 Monday morning that a car had slammed into a piece of paving equipment near the Gray exit. The accident shut down both northbound lanes, and so traffic was diverted at Exit 53, into Falmouth. Motorists were then sent down Route 100 to Gray, in order to avoid the crash site. The driver of the car was seriously injured in the accident.
