Fresh bread, crisp pastry, frosted cakes. Who doesn't love a great bakery?

Taste of Home is a website that inspires togetherness through creative cooking, sharing, and entertaining.

They share recipes for the best desserts, appetizers, main dish recipes, and the best of the best in the country, when it comes to food.

When it came down to choosing the best bakery in each state (not a bad gig!) whittling it down to just one in Maine, could not have been an easy task, but when the dust settled, one destination stood above the rest.

Bread and Roses Bakery, located in Ogunquit, is a charming spot in the Downtown area, that is a hit with not only locals, but also tourists, and if there is one thing we like to do during the warmer months in Maine, it's getting out and hitting the road to explore.

Giant chocolate chip cookies, hearty anadama bread, mousse bombs, and blueberry whoopie pies, are just a few of the delicacies that Bread and Roses Bakery serves up.

Starting out in 1989 in Ogunquit, baking from scratch, they now work out of their commercial kitchen in Wells, where they make products that they ship out nationwide on Goldbelly

Bread and Roses takeout is open seasonally at 614 Post Road in Wells. They have a second location at 47 Shore Road in Ogunquit, that is open April through October.

They offer freshly baked treats, morning pastries, cakes, fantastic coffee and espresso drinks, breakfast sandwiches, to-go lunches, and more.
