The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says seven people have been arrested in connection with the distribution of heroin and crack cocaine in Lincoln and Knox counties.

The suspects were arrested Wednesday after a month long investigation by the MDEA, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Waldoboro police.

Arrested were:

  • Chas Echols (24) of Rochester, New York for aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine.
  • Rashad Newsome (24) of Rochester, New York for aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine.
  • Brianna Parlin (24) of Rockland for trafficking in crack cocaine.
  • Felichia Glidden (22) of Waldoboro for trafficking in crack cocaine.
  • Chris Knight (24) of Rockland for felony possession of heroin and violating bail conditions.
  • Harley Winchenbach (23) of Waldoboro for aggravated trafficking in heroin and (2) arrest warrants for unpaid fines.
  • Sydni Barham (28) of Rockland for trafficking in heroin and crack cocaine.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Echols and Newsome rented cars every week and traveled back and forth from New York to Maine. McCausland said they transported drugs that were later sold in Thomaston, Rockland and Waldoboro.

Early Wednesday morning, Echols, Newsome, Parlin and Glidden were arrested at a home on Staley Lane in Waldoboro. Drug agents say approximately 40 grams of crack cocaine, 6 grams of heroin, Suboxone Strips, the prescription drug Ritalin and $5,000 in suspected drug money were seized from the home.

Knight and Winchenbach were arrested during a traffic stop shortly after the two left the home on Staley Lane. Police say a small amount of heroin was seized from Knight during the arrest.

Barham was arrested at her apartment on Broadway Street in Rockland. McCausland says Echols and Newsome used Barham's home to sell their drugs.

Drug agents say additional charges and arrests could be coming soon.
