A man was killed and three children were critically injured when the SUV they were riding in collided with a dump truck in Gorham Monday morning.

Police said Joseph Piawlock, 45, of Gorham, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Portland Press Herald reported.

The crash occurred on Narragansett Street just after 10 a.m.

Police said Yvonne Piawlock, 39, Joseph Piawlock’s wife, was driving the SUV on the snow-covered road and lost control of the vehicle, crossing into the oncoming traffic lane. Her vehicle was struck by a dump truck driven by Daniel Aceto, 54, of Gray, who was not hurt.

Yvonne Piawlock and three girls in the vehicle were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. The children were listed in critical condition. Yvonne Piawlock's injuries were minor.
